About drycleaning

Dry cleaning, is a process that cleans clothes without the use of water. The cleaning fluid (an organic solvent) is a liquid and the fact that no water is present is why the process is termed as “dry”.

Clothing manufacturers often recommend dry cleaning of garments which may otherwise be damaged by the laundering process due to the presence of moisture, heat and the tumbling action leading to shrinkage and fabric distortion.

This is especially so for lined, tailored garments that involve the combination of two or more different fabrics that if laundered could pucker due to differing rates of shrinkage.     

Dry cleaning is also preferred for delicates such as silk that may be dyed with water soluble dyes or react adversely to hand or machine washing.

Dry cleaning is excellent for the removal of grease & oil based stains. An especially designed dry cleaning, moisture free detergent is added to the process to deal with any water based stains.

It will greatly assist towards a successful outcome if particular staining is mentioned and identified (if known) by the customer at the counter when depositing their garments.
